THE IDENTITY

QUESTION

QUESTION

QUESTION

How might an understated VC clarify his positioning and reputation in the AI space - so the right founders, partners, and opportunities find him without the need for self-promotion?

THE CHALLENGE

He had a reputation for stepping in when startups were on fire - fixing chaos others wouldn’t touch. But that reputation was invisible. On paper, he looked like any other investor. In meetings, he struggled to explain what made him different. Without a clear identity, the right founders weren’t showing up - and he couldn’t see his own next evolution either.

THE APPROACH

I worked with him through the Identity Accelerator: three 90-minute sessions designed to uncover, reframe, and codify the traits that made him exceptional.

This wasn’t surface-level positioning. It was identity, engineered for how power actually moves in venture. Together, we unpacked deep-rooted patterns: childhood shame around academic failure, a father’s unreachable approval, and a recurring tendency to operate behind the scenes as the uncredited fixer. These weren’t stories to avoid - they were the source material.

We redefined his introversion as strategic discretion. We gave shape to his operating style: calm in chaos, sharp under pressure. And we positioned him not as yet another AI investor - but as The Fixer. The one you call when the vision is still intact, but the burn rate is real.

From there, I built a complete identity architecture: a psychological and narrative map, language frameworks for intros, investor memos, and pitch decks, and a lightweight content system designed to reinforce credibility without spectacle. His visibility strategy was tailored for influence - precise, deliberate, and quietly powerful.

THE INSIGHT

THE INSIGHT

A strong reputation doesn’t come from visibility - it comes from recognisability. Especially in high-stakes fields like venture, identity must act as a filter, not a performance. When you clarify how you operate - and why it matters - you stop chasing the right opportunities. They start recognising you first.

THE OUTCOMES

Deliverables and External Results:

  • Defined a clear, differentiated positioning as The Fixer for AI startups

  • Developed a brand language toolkit for investor decks, intros, and thought pieces

  • Built a Strategic Visibility system to shape reputation through targeted conversations and referrals

  • Designed an identity-first foundation for launching future ventures

Internal Shifts:

  • Stronger intros and higher-fit deal flow with no added marketing effort

  • Reputation now precedes him – trusted, sharp, and exacting

  • Increased clarity on long-term ambition and internal decision-making

  • Greater confidence and control over what to say yes to – and why

Client Quote

This is really thoughtful work and much appreciated. I can already see some interesting builds on these concepts.
